What we build
We keep our scope deliberately tight. Fewer job types, run by the same hands every time, means sharper estimates and schedules we can actually hold to.
Detached and attached accessory dwelling units, garage conversions and junior ADUs — permitting through final inspection. We have big plans for small houses.
Second stories, rear and side additions and bump-outs — new square footage tied properly into the existing structure, with engineering coordinated from day one.
Full kitchen remodels — new layouts, cabinetry, stone counters, tile and appliances, with the plumbing and electrical brought up to current code behind the finishes.
Gut bathroom remodels — waterproofing done properly, curbless and accessible showers, tile, stone and fixtures. Sequenced so your house stays livable while we work.

The innovative craftsmen
MAC BUILT is a small, hands-on Oakland contractor. That means the person who priced your job is the person on site — no layers between the estimate and the execution.
Line-item takeoffs with real quantities and allowances called out, so you know what is priced, what is an assumption and where the money actually goes.
Oakland and East Bay permitting, plan check comments, engineering coordination and inspections — we run the paperwork so the schedule doesn’t stall.
EPA Lead-Safe certified practices, dust containment and daily cleanup. Most of our work happens in homes people are still living in.
Build It Green and Casita Coalition member — efficient envelopes, electrification-ready mechanicals and durable, eco-friendly material choices. We hold to the reuse, recycle, repurpose mantra on every job — salvaging what is still sound, giving good material a second life in the work, and sorting the rest for recycling rather than sending it all to landfill.
How a project runs
Every job follows the same five stages. You always know which one you are in and what happens next.
We visit, measure, look at the structure and talk through scope, priorities and budget range.
A written line-item proposal with quantities, allowances, exclusions and payment schedule.
Design and engineering coordination, plan check submittal and permit issuance.
Scheduled trades, weekly updates, inspections signed off as each phase closes.
Punch list, final inspection, warranty documents and a house cleaned up behind us.
